A vast majority of this blog is intended as an archive of historical information for my own personal interest — a subset of thoughts, experiments, projects, etc, that I might want to look back on sometime in the future.
If you’re reading this and you are not me, you might also find the posts to be of interest.
I usually respond to the name Grenville, and I’m currently a father of two, a husband and guy-who-plays-with-gadgets. I’ve taken on a number of appearances over the years….
I am currently Engineering Manager of the Open Connect Appliance Transport Protocol R&D group, Netflix (as of May 2018) and an Adjunct Professor at Swinburne University of Technology (SUT), Melbourne, Australia (as of March 2019).
Between 2002 and 2018 I held full-time positions of Associate Professor then full Professor of Telecommunications Engineering at Swinburne University of Technology. During my time at SUT I founded the Centre for Advanced Internet Architecture (Feb 2002 – Feb 2017) and the Internet For Things (I4T) Research Group (March 2017).
I started this site in January 2006, intending it to be the successor to http://gja.space4me.com (which had existed for many years prior). It took me until June 2012 to start adding content, whereupon I back-filled the blog with a whole host of posts that pre- and post-date January 2006 (using content I’d previously created elsewhere). For example, one of my earliest blog posts about an event in June 1999 was actually posted here in June 2012. So now you know 🙂
